For 2024, BMW has decided to add some spice under the hood of its entry-level SUV with a new performance version. The X1 M35i xDrive will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops over 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
This new version with enhanced mechanical capabilities fills the void left by the departure of the BMW X2 and its shining M35i variant. The Bavarian automaker\'s small SUV will be able to compete with the sportier versions of its main competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA AMG.
Enhanced styling
The M35i xDrive version of the BMW X1 benefits from some cosmetic improvements. The front bumper is more imposing and aggressive, and the same goes for the rear. New 19-inch wheels are offered as standard, and BMW also offers optional 20-inch wheels. Moreover, there are numerous M logos on the vehicle, both inside and outside.
The interior of the BMW X1 M35i xDrive is also adorned with new features, including suede finishing and blue stitching. You can even add optional sport seats. However, the biggest novelty inside the cabin is the arrival of the 9th version of the iDrive system, which is much smoother and easier to use than the previous version.
Impressive performance
In its regular version, the BMW X1 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This engine allows it to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.4 seconds. In its all-new alteration, the power of the Bavarian SUV increases to 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which brings the 0-60 mph time below 5.2 seconds. Interestingly, BMW has decided to use a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission instead of the 8-speed transmission found in the similar version of the X2.
If you are interested in the 2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive, it will be available from October with a starting price of $57,500. The regular version of the Bavarian automaker\'s small SUV is also still offered with a starting price of $45,800 for the 2023 model.
